2023 Fall
November 2023: Presentation at Baboquivari High School
Three of our PAWS members and executive officers went to an outreach event in the Tohono O'odham Nation during Native American Heritage Month. We gave a presentation, "Understanding Energetics Using Elephant Toothpaste" to demonstrate the differences between exothermic and endothermic reactions.
November 2023: Myers Ganoug Elementary STEM Night
PAWS members attended another great elementary school outreach event where we demonstrated how to extract DNA from strawberries and some awesome color changing chemistry.
October 2023: Spooktacular at Flandrau Planetarium
Every year the Flandreau Observatory hosts Spooktacular - a halloween themed event where kids can dress up and participate in demonstrations from different STEM groups across campus. PAWS had a table at Spooktacular and had a variety of demonstrations and activities for the kids to take part in. This year we presented some cool color chemistry centered around how different oxidation states can change the color of a substance.

September 2019: Girl Scouts STEM Badges - DNA
Members of PAWS and Alpha Chi Sigma (AXS) were able to host girl scouts on the University of Arizona campus to help them get their STEM badges! During this event, the girl scouts were taught about DNA and diversity, and were even able to extract DNA from a strawberry!
