Outreach is an important part of our mission, and PAWS strives to conduct fun and meaningful outreach to youth all around the Tucson area.
Science is more exciting when you can see it, touch it, and try it yourself. By sharing our enthusiasm, knowledge, and experiences with younger students, we hope to spark a lifelong interest in science and show them that curiosity is the first step toward discovery.
Throughout the year, we bring hands-on demos and shows to schools and science events across the Tucson community. Our activities cover a wide range of topics, from exploring the five senses and watching colors change with pH indicators to testing the physics of forces and buoyancy. Each demo is designed to be interactive, so students can make predictions, test their ideas, and see the results for themselves.
We also take part in two annual community favorites: Spooktacular Science in the fall and the Tucson Festival of Books in the spring. These events give us the chance to meet families, answer questions, and share the fun of science with hundreds of curious visitors.
Beyond the demos, we enjoy talking with students about what it is like to work in science. Whether a student is a young explorer or a high schooler considering a future career, we want them to see that scientists come from all backgrounds and that there is a place for them in science.
