Please join us in welcoming Dr. Katie Kuhns to discuss about how to pursue IP at UA while also giving insight on pursuing an unconventional career path!

 

Katie Kuhns, PhD

Katie brings 13 years of experience in the life sciences between research and academic tech transfer. Prior to joining the TLA team, Katie served as the Licensing Associate for the Office of Innovation & Partnerships at LSU Health New Orleans for 3 years. In that role she gained extensive experience managing disclosure and IP portfolios, assessing the commercial potential of technologies, marketing, and negotiating agreements. Katie was also a recipient of the AUTM Foundation’s Susan Riley Keyes Fellowship in 2019-2020. She holds a B.A. in biochemistry from Texas Tech University, an M.S. in environmental science from Southern Methodist University, and a Ph.D. in molecular and translational toxicology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, for which she studied glioblastoma. Katie performed her postdoctoral training at LSU Health New Orleans’ Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, baking, and volunteering in the local community.
